I had recently purchased an ink set with 8 colors. Well, 7 colors and black. I haven't worked with a quill much and needed practice. You know, a lot of my drawings are practice drawings that end up as keepers. Anyway, I wanted to see how the colors looked, how each ink behaved with the quill and other little experiments.
The drawing began with the green and grew from there. Each time I'd open a new color, a new layer of detail would emerge. When I was half way through my colors, I realized I was working toward another female form so I grabbed the black and made it happen.
There's something very festive about this one. I like it and want to draw it larger. Someday perhaps.
