Byron's Drawings
Portfolio #1

I've been interested in the Mayan culture for years now. They have a calendar that runs out sometime in 2011. Lump that with my interest in Biblical prophecy and you'll understand perhaps why it interests me.

So I'm in Florida with a new quill and ink set and a very long narrow piece of bristol board. The long narrow shape was a result of an end piece being left over when I cut up the board for other desired dimensions. Now that it sat there in front of me, I briefly struggled with what to draw when the Mayan panels popped into my mind.

I got on line and did a little research into Mayan symbols and language then used their alphabet to create this drawing. Yes, it actually says something. In pairs from top to bottom it reads:

"Was It?"
"Is It?"
"Will It Be?"

All the shapes around it are just for decoration.
