Byron's Drawings
Portfolio #1

I'm not sure why I drew this. I was inspired by a dragon tattoo on someone's arm. I had also been watching TV with an oriental actress. These things tend to come together in my mind on a subconscious level and only reveal themselves when the drawing begins.

The drawing started with a dip of the quill into the purple ink. The dragon was drawn first. I think that's when the TV show popped up and I drew the outline of the woman's back around it. Then I extended the original tail downward and around her body as if it were clothing. Since I hadn't been impressed with opaqueness of the red ink, I decided to try the emerald green out. I created the background shapes and then gave her green eyes and a nose stud. I regret the stud.

Overall, I like the drawing. It gave me the illusion of being a tattoo artist. I couldn't imagine anyone sitting for a tattoo of this size though.
