Another
Alask inspired drawing. Many of the native Alaskan drawings look like this.
I used the image on the box of salmon I acquired as the model. I made a
few changes of course.
What I enjoy most about this is the way the blue ink just stands out on the page. Yes, I'm really enjoying the new drawing materials/style.
Anything unusual about this drawing? I'm glad you asked. This is an 8 1/2 by 11 inch drawing. I don't normally draw things that large. So if you can imagine the amount of ink I used on this you'll understand that it took me longer than a few minutes to complete it. In fact, you can actually see the pen strokes I used to create it. Drawing a piece this big scared me a bit. When it was done, despite the flaws, I was very happy with the result and how "dramatic" it all looked because it was larger than my normal 4x6 or smaller drawings.
What's next? Well, I'm off to Australia. I'll have my inks and pens with me. I've already cut up more bristle board and into very large pieces too. The Aboriginal art there is very interesting. Lots of dots. Y'all know how I love dots. I'm thinking you'll see another location inspired drawing very soon!
